We made a hot trip up to Dijon last weekend, about 2 hours north of here. It’s the capital of the Bourgogne region and is known for mustard, wine and my favourite liqueur, crème de cassis. It’s also an absolutely gorgeous city!
We had a brief wander on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, sampling the hot wine (it is the season, after all!), touching the chouette on Notre Dame de Dijon for good luck and feasting our eyes on the amazing architecture. The roofs in Dijon are tiled with a rainbow of colours, with the tiles arranged in geometrical patterns.
On the way home, we drove along the Route des Grands Crus, from Dijon to Beaune, and it really is vineyards as far as the eye can see, with lots of caves and ancient churches along the way.
I can’t wait to go back. We’ll hopefully have more time to spend exploring the city, and make more stops along the wine road! Bisous!
